The Attitude of Gratitude

The attitude of gratitude is a great one to adopt for overall wellbeing. It is something that is widely known for all the benefits it brings including improved mental, emotional and consequently physical health. And then there are many who want to practice gratitude as it is widely publicised that if you are grateful for what you have now, you attract more abundance. This has of course led to profitable businesses promoting gratitude journals, books on mindfulness and gratitude (which usually go together), affirmations and meditations etc...It is great that in today's world there are multiple avenues to express and experience gratitude in our day to day lives for everything we have.

Gratitude and appreciation usually go hand in hand although there are some differences. When we appreciate something or someone we are noticing what we are appreciating, how good it makes us feel and are acknowledging the same. This then causes us to feel thankful and express gratitude about it.

It is a good idea to be aware of how we are feeling when we feel gratitude towards someone or even towards the universe. It should feel good within. If we are instead feeling a surge of emotion causing us to put someone on a pedestal or if we feel indebted towards someone, it is a good idea to take note as these are wounds within calling to be healed. Gratitude and appreciation should make one feel good about themselves and the world around us. Wounds can often present themselves in the guise of feeling profusely thankful and usually because we don't worthy or deserving of whatever good that we experienced. And if you are feeling obligated towards someone it means you have given some of your power away to them. Whatever the wound may be, it is important to recognize it and not beat yourself up for it and instead heal it with the power of introspection. Becoming an observer of our own selves is highly empowering because by choosing to give our attention to it we are opening the doorway of transformation. There are many healing modalities out there and you can choose whatever you feel called to. EAM is one such modality with which you can easily, quickly heal from within without needing to dig up all the past experiences and losing yourself in that abyss.
